Writing Prompts

Well, hi! We’re glad you’re here! Writing prompts are like little seeds. You plant them in your mind and they grow, if you let them! It’s up to you to water these seeds with your imagination. Take a look at our prompts, choose your favorite, and then think about it for a day or two. It has to grow and form in the back of your mind before it can grow and form in the front of your mind. Then, when the time is right, sit down and start writing your story. Be gentle with yourself. The words will come.

mask Prompt #1: This prompt is about how you made a robot for an art project at school. When you brought it home, something happened that made it come to life! This isn’t just any robot though, this is a funny robot, who does silly, tricky things to your family that make you all laugh. So think of some silly, funny things that would really shock everyone at your house. Like, what if your robot turned all your pictures upside down on the walls? Or, what if he put wheels on every chair in the house?

Prompt #2: You wake after a really heavy night of sleep. You dress in the dark. When you brush your teeth and look in the mirror you realize you aren't you, but Mr. Rusty!! "How did this happen?!" you ask yourself. You look around and realize you aren't at your house, either. "I must be at Mr. Rusty's house!" you think to yourself. "This must be one of those switch-a-roo mix-ups. I wonder if he is at my house and he's me?!" You rush to school and. . . .

Prompt #3: You find a ring in the school sandbox that makes you invisible when you put it on. What would you do with your invisibility powers?
